ThermalWood Canada Expands with Jartek Thermal Modification Chamber

ThermalWood Canada is set to expand its capabilities with the delivery of a thermal modification chamber from Jartek. The new kiln, with a 3 m³ capacity, is designed for smaller batches, making it ideal for specialized wood products and ensuring compliance with the ThermoWood® association’s rigorous standards.

ThermalWood Canada specializes in thermally modified wood for demanding applications, including musical instruments, where quality and consistency are paramount. The chamber will enhance the company’s ability to meet the music industry’s requirements while enabling entry into new markets that prioritize smaller production volumes.

Bob Lennon, President and CEO of ThermalWood Canada, highlighted the innovation opportunities the new kiln will bring: “This new kiln will also allow ThermalWood Canada to help others with R&D on new species for new products not thermally modified in the past.”

Set to process its first batch of wood in spring 2025, the chamber will use ThermoWood® technology, recognized for its eco-friendly approach to enhancing wood properties like moisture resistance, shape stability, and durability. Wood species such as maple, ash, and oak are typically processed, but this kiln allows experimentation with other species, opening doors for future innovation.

This investment represents the first phase of a multiphase expansion program for ThermalWood Canada, signaling growth in various areas of the business. With this new chamber, ThermalWood Canada solidifies its commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation in the wood industry.
