Saint-Gobain Acquires Ontario Architectural Wood Panel Manufacturer MCM Acoustical

Saint-Gobain has acquired MCM Acoustical, a Mississauga, Ont., manufacturer of architectural wood ceiling and wall panels, expanding the building materials company’s manufacturing capacity in Ontario.

The acquisition, completed through Saint-Gobain subsidiary CertainTeed Canada, Inc., includes MCM Acoustical’s 70,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Mississauga and approximately 90 employees, who will join CertainTeed Architectural effective immediately.

CertainTeed Architectural is the company’s specialized architectural products division. Saint-Gobain said the transaction will strengthen its supply chain, increase manufacturing flexibility and improve its ability to respond to changing customer demand.

“We are excited to build on our longstanding relationship with the MCM Acoustical team and welcome them to Saint-Gobain and CertainTeed as we expand our ability to support architects, contractors, and customers with distinctive architectural offerings.”

CertainTeed Architectural has worked with MCM Acoustical and its parent company for more than 20 years, supplying acoustical solutions for architectural and construction applications.

MCM’s current Mississauga manufacturing plant opened in 2022. The facility is designed to accommodate a range of production requirements, from complex custom architectural projects to high-volume manufacturing.

The acquisition adds another Canadian manufacturing operation to Saint-Gobain’s portfolio as the company continues to expand its presence in the country. Since 2020, Saint-Gobain has completed more than $4 billion in Canadian acquisitions, including Kaycan, Building Products of Canada, the Bailey family of companies and Interstar Materials Inc.

MCM’s wood ceiling and wall panel capabilities complement CertainTeed Architectural’s existing acoustical product business and give the division additional capacity to serve architects, contractors and other customers.

Saint-Gobain designs, manufactures and distributes building materials and services for residential, non-residential and infrastructure markets worldwide. In Canada, the company operates a range of manufacturing and distribution businesses, including operations under the CertainTeed brand.
