Quebec Wood Manufacturers Get Nearly $1M Boost from Ottawa to Expand Production

Four Quebec-based wood manufacturing companies will receive a combined $970,267 from the Government of Canada to modernize equipment and increase production capacity, as part of a broader federal push to strengthen the residential construction supply chain.

The funding, administered through Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED) under the Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) program, was announced by Minister of Industry Mélanie Joly during a regional stop in Terrebonne. The investments are intended to enhance productivity and innovation in furniture, cabinetry, and wood component manufacturing—key contributors to residential construction across the province.

Menuiserox Inc. (Chaudière-Appalaches)
Awarded $500,000, Menuiserox Inc. will use the funds to acquire digital equipment and expand its manufacturing facility. The upgrades aim to increase both productivity and capacity in producing staircases, furniture, and cabinet components.

Les Armoires des Monts Inc. (Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine)
This manufacturer of tailor-made kitchen and bathroom cabinets will receive $300,000 to acquire new production equipment. The investment is expected to expand the company’s output and respond to growing demand in the custom cabinetry market.

Ébénisterie DSL Inc. (Mauricie)
With an award of $44,000, Ébénisterie DSL Inc. will acquire digital equipment to improve its production efficiency. The company specializes in the manufacture of both furniture and cabinets.

Ébénisterie RN Inc. (Abitibi-Témiscamingue)
Receiving $126,267, Ébénisterie RN Inc. will upgrade its digital equipment to enhance productivity in the manufacturing of carpentry products and furniture.

These investments form part of a larger $15.95 million package distributed through the REGI and Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP), which supports 40 projects in Quebec’s homebuilding sector. According to CED, the aim is to help regional manufacturers scale their operations and commercialize innovative products that support sustainable, accelerated housing construction.

“The housing crisis can’t be solved without a strong supply chain,” said Minister Joly. “By supporting these manufacturers, we’re making sure builders have the materials they need to deliver homes faster and more efficiently.”
