Cyncly acquires imos to expand CAD/CAM and furniture manufacturing capabilities

Cyncly has acquired German software company imos AG, adding CAD/CAM, integration and automation capabilities to its kitchen, bathroom and furniture manufacturing software portfolio.

The acquisition is intended to strengthen Cyncly’s ability to connect design, engineering and production within a single manufacturing workflow. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Headquartered in Herford, Germany, imos develops software for panel-based custom and semi-custom furniture manufacturing. Its technology converts design information into validated parametric constructions and production-ready data, including optimized nesting and CNC-ready outputs.

The company serves more than 5,000 manufacturers in 100 countries, ranging from smaller craft operations to large industrial producers.

Cyncly said the addition of imos fills a key part of the manufacturing process between design and machine-ready production. The companies have previously worked together through software integrations.

“Every furniture manufacturer is trying to connect design, engineering and production into one smooth process,” said Anand Krishnan, CEO of Cyncly. “Our ambition is to give them a single platform that does exactly that, and imos is a major step toward it.”

According to Cyncly, combining the companies’ technologies could allow manufacturers to use production data more effectively to optimize material use, identify errors before machining and reduce manual steps between design and the shop floor.

imos CEO Winfried Dell said joining Cyncly would provide additional resources for product development while maintaining the company’s existing relationships with customers and partners.

Andrea Gnoato, general manager of Cyncly’s Kitchen, Bathroom and Furniture Manufacturing solutions, said imos addresses a common production challenge by closing the gap between a completed design and a file ready for manufacturing equipment.

Cyncly said imos will continue to operate with its existing customer-facing teams and support structure, while gaining access to Cyncly’s research and development resources, global organization and AI-focused software development.

The acquisition also advances Cyncly’s broader strategy of building an AI-enabled manufacturing platform covering the workflow from initial design through final production.
