B.C. wood manufacturers receive federal support for modernization and export growth

The federal government is directing more than $12.8 million to several British Columbia wood-sector organizations and manufacturers as part of a broader effort to help businesses respond to trade disruptions, improve productivity and expand into new markets.

The funding is part of more than $30.5 million announced by Pacific Economic Development Canada for 24 businesses and organizations across B.C. Several of the largest investments are directly tied to forestry and value-added wood manufacturing.

BC Wood Specialties Group will receive $5.28 million to support market development, export readiness and buyer engagement for B.C. wood manufacturers. The funding will help companies participate in international trade shows and missions, connect with buyers and explore opportunities in Canada, Mexico, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The project was approved in February 2026.

Canadian Bavarian Millwork & Lumber will receive $1 million to modernize its facility, install advanced manufacturing equipment and pursue new export markets. The company produces high-end, made-to-order wood products for architects, builders and designers. The federal government said the project is intended to support rural jobs and increase the value of finished products made from B.C. wood. The project was approved in February 2026.

PowerWood, a B.C. value-added wood manufacturer, will also receive $1 million. The investment will support upgrades to its production line, including advanced sawing, handling, moisture-measuring, packaging and business analytics systems. The company will also develop thermally modified wood products as part of the project. Funding is aimed at improving productivity, increasing the value of Canadian wood products and helping PowerWood diversify its export markets. The project was approved in January 2026.

Dynamic Fenestration will receive $550,000 to expand its range of energy-efficient custom windows and doors and enter new markets. The company serves luxury residential and commercial construction customers across North America. Its project was approved in February 2026.

The announcement also includes $5.5 million for Nanaimo Forest Products, operator of the Harmac Pacific pulp mill. The funding will support new equipment intended to increase production capacity, improve efficiency and reduce costs. The project was approved in February 2026.

Collectively, the wood-related investments focus on manufacturing modernization, value-added production, export diversification and market development as B.C. companies navigate changing global trade conditions.
