Akhurst Machinery: 2020 National Finalist for the National Family Enterprise of the Year Award

Akhurst Machinery Ltd., the largest equipment distributor in Canada for the wood industry, is a finalist for Family Enterprise Xchange’s 2020 National Family Enterprise of the Year Award (FEYA). Started by W.A. Akhurst in 1938, Akhurst has remained a family-owned business for four generations over 80 years.

The Akhurst family has been nominated for this award for providing a progressive environment and treating staff as part of the family. Despite its growth to 80 employees across five offices, it remains a family company. This family focus has created a culture of teamwork, trust, and respect which has encouraged many employees to stay with the company long-term.

Akhurst is a leading distributor of high-quality industrial equipment to the secondary woodworking industry with sales and service staff across the country and a head office in Vancouver. The company assists with selecting, financing, installing, training, and servicing for all of their equipment. They specialize in CNC routing and machining, edge banding, sanding, sawing and cutting, pressing and laminating, end matching, moulding and profiling, dowel construction, clamping, dust and waste management, and material handling solutions.

The 2020 National FEYA announcement is part of the Canadian Family Enterprise Forum which will take place on Wednesday, April 21, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EDT. Register to take part in the event.
